According to the latest rumors, Microsoft could be working on a feature that will allow you to play Xbox One games on PC directly.
This is stated by the specialized media Thurrott , where they explain that, after the announcement of the new Windows Build 18334 that invited to play State of Decay free on Windows in a limited way, they decided to investigate a little more. The results of their inquiries suggest that Microsoft intends to allow the execution of native Xbox games on Windows 10 computers .
According to the Thurrott report , State of Decay is not downloaded from the Microsoft Store server, which is where all the PC content comes from, including Play Anywhere titles. On the contrary, the download is carried out from XboxLive.com.
“What it looks like Microsoft is doing, instead of porting each feature of Xbox to the PC one by one, is to download the entire Xbox installation and make it the main Windows installation,” writes the media.
When you extract the installer after the download you can see that it is an XVC file, a format that the Redmond company introduced in 2013 for the Xbox One games. In Windows 10 19H1, the great update of the operating system this spring , XVC files can be installed with PowerShell, which means that in Windows 10 April 2019 Update it will be possible to install Xbox One games with PowerShell , according to the Thurrottreport .
With this move, Microsoft intends to simplify to the maximum PC execution of the games developed for Xbox One , a step that offers great benefits for developers and players, as well as for the company itself. Developers will not be forced to adapt titles to each platform and players will be able to run the games interchangeably on the console and computer, which ultimately benefits Microsoft.
