Electronic Arts (EA) and Respawn have provided initial information on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. We now know when the game will be released and what we are expecting. However, we still do not know all the details about the action adventure.
As part of the “Star Wars Celebration”, Respawn Entertainment (known for “Apex Legends” and “Titanfall”) and EA have unveiled “Jedi: Fallen Order”. It’s the first true single-player experience in the Star Wars universe since Electronic Arts acquired exclusive rights to the franchise in 2013. The expectations that fans have for the game should be correspondingly high. You can convince yourself of the quality of the title even towards the end of the year: On November 15, 2019 “Fallen Order” for PS4, Xbox One and PC appears.
A Jedi on the run
In “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” we take on the role of Cal Kestis. He is a padawan (apprentice Jedi) who survived the “Order 66”. As a reminder, the movie “Star Wars 3: Revenge of the Sith” ordered the extinction of all Jedi. Since then, Kestis has been fleeing from the Empire and trying to lead an inconspicuous life. Of course, he does not succeed in the long term and soon he is hunted. On the run, the droid BD-1 is at his side. We do not yet know how it will be useful in the game.
The Empire apparently sends special forces specializing in the detection of Jedi. These are called “purge packers”. Asserted they are a dangerous elite fighter named “Second Sister”, which is probably the greatest threat to Kestis.
Apparently, but expect quite different opponents: EA promises in the press release “intense Star Wars lightsaber battles, as you know from the movies.” We’ll most likely be dealing with other Lightsaber vehicles in the storyline of Star Wars Jedi: Last Order.
From padawan to master?
With enemies, the young Jedi probably deals primarily with melee combat. The fight with the lightsaber is easy to learn, but difficult to master. Does that mean that we expect a similarly complex lightsaber combat system as in “Jedi Knight”? So far, nothing is known. With the game series around Kyle Katarn, however, “Fallen Order” probably has in common that your character with time becomes more powerful. So the Padawan could become a Jedi Knight or even a Master.
You also have power abilities available that grow stronger as the game progresses. Through your powers you should then be able to reach places that were previously inaccessible to you. Several locations in the galaxy are the scene of “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order”, so we start from a half-open game world. You can also use these to tactically tackle combat. Nevertheless, the developers already emphasized that this is not a stealth game (called stealth game).
Single player without microtransactions
In addition to the revelation trailer, EA and Respawn have not yet shown any content for “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order”. We could not see gameplay yet. However, the makers promise an action-adventure, which puts the focus on the single-player campaign – a multiplayer mode is not planned according to IGN. In addition, there should be no microtransactions.
But there are cosmetic items that you can use to dress your young Jedi. You can pre-order the song and get those items for release in November. More about “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” we probably learn about the Games Fair E3 in the summer of 2019. Then we should finally get to see the first gameplay.
