The Oculus Rift S is coming: Soon, a new VR glasses for the computer is available. Compared to its predecessor, Facebook has made many improvements. You can also use it with the touch controllers .

The Oculus Rift S was unveiled at the 2019 Game Developer Conference (GDC). It will replace the conventional Rift VR glasses, reports Eurogamer. It is an advancement of the already well-known headset, which shows itself for example in the dissolution: While the predecessor dissolves with 2160 x 1200 pixels and works with 90 Hz, the new model delivers 2560 x 1440 pixels – but only 80 Hz Switched from OLED screens to a single LC screen.

With the Oculus Rift S you should have an even bigger view. To match this, you can use the headset to move more freely than with the predecessor: The new model can do without external sensors. All the technologies relevant for tracking are already brought along by the gadget itself. Five cameras are used for this purpose.

On board are also built-in headphones. Alternatively, however, a headphone jack is available. The bracket itself has probably improved Facebook as well. All in all, the Oculus Rift S should sit safely and comfortably on its head. Still in the spring of 2019, the virtual reality headset for the price of $ 399 appear.

Despite slightly increased resolution, the power requirement has hardly changed. Facebook still recommends an Nvidia GTX 1060 or similar for the Oculus Rift S. At least you should own a GTX 1050 Ti or equivalent, if you want to use VR on your PC.
