Recently, vanishing apps from the Google Play Store indicated that HTC might withdraw from the smartphone industry. Apparently, the company does not think about it. The first details of a still unknown model of the manufacturer have surfaced in the net. Based on the technical data, however, it is questionable whether it is the HTC U13 – unless it came to a strategy change.

Geekbench’s benchmark database shows a smartphone with the model name HTC 2Q7A100, as reported by GizmoChina. According to the entry, the device, which could be the HTC U13, is equipped with a Snapdragon 710. But this is a chipset of the upper middle class of Qualcomm. In addition, 6 GB of RAM are installed.

U13 for the middle class, U13 Plus as flagship?

It is possible that HTC plans a mid-range smartphone with a good camera with the U13, which does not have to compete directly with flagships like the Galaxy S10 or Huawei P30 Pro. So the company could address a different target group. In that case, it would be conceivable that in addition a HTC U13 Plus appears as a top smartphone, which has a faster chipset.

Perhaps hides behind the unknown smartphone but also a successor to the mid-range smartphone HTC U12 Life – or a new phone from the Desire series. We will soon learn more. Since the HTC U12 Plus appeared in late May 2018, the HTC U13 could become the manufacturer’s first major smartphone in 2019.
